You can pretty much tell by facial expressions and body chemicals when you do the autopsy if the person was in pain or a panic at the time of death there will be a significant rise and adrenaline and endomorphin in the blood if the person was panicking or in pain and the facial expressions will also show it

The coroner can see how much stress was put on the heart right before death. When you panic, your heart pumps harder to move blood around your body.

Blood test reveals a lot.

If he paniked his system would be loaded with Adrenalin. He was probably unconscious when he drowned.

Nothing can change what actually happened. Whether the poor person suffered or not.
But why make the living suffer more. So a certain degree of mistruths can be easily justified.
It would have been more accurate to say “There were no signs that the boy struggled”
No broken fingers, torn skin, torn muscles or other indicators that he was fighting for his life but failed.

He drove in as driving a car into the creek?
I suppose that they could tell by his position in the seat and the condition of his hands whether or not he struggled to get out before drowning.
I guess by saying that he didn’t panic it means that he was knocked unconscious.

What’s wrong with panicking? I would if I were drowning.
